Hospice Care for the Terminal Cancer Patients
Hong Young-Seon

Abstract
Hospice palliative care is to help the terminal patients to maintain the dignity as a human being until the end of their lives by relieving their suffering through the co-operation of the palliative care team. Modern medicine has been aiming at the cure of the disease and the prolongation of life, but has not made any big progress in control of their suffering. Hospice and palliative care is a patient centered care, through the co-operation of many different kinds of specialists. There are about 250 hospice institutes working in Korea and there is a big need for the legislation for the hospice palliative care and reimbursement from the national medical insurance as well. Many medical issues have to be solved before we start the laws for hospice palliative care.
